We Provide The Opportunity For Growth

About The Alano Club

The Alano Club of Boise is a sanctuary for those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, offering a welcoming space to connect and grow. Whether you’re newly sober or further along in recovery, here you’ll find support, resources, and a community that understands your journey. From sharing a cup of coffee to finding hope in others’ success, the Alano Club is where you can nurture your recovery.

History of The Alano Club

The Alano Club movement began in the 1930s, providing a refuge for individuals seeking recovery from addiction and a supportive community to encourage their growth. These clubs quickly became vital pillars in recovery networks across the nation, offering a safe haven for meetings, events, and personal reflection.

AA is a fellowship of people dedicated to recovering from alcoholism. Alano Clubs were founded in order to give AA groups a more permanent place to meet. These are two separate organizations, Alano Clubs support AA meetings and other addiction recovery-focused groups. AA groups are self-supporting through their own contributions.

Alano Clubs began in the 1930s as "24-Hour Clubs" operated by recovering alcoholics. They were created because Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was not allowed to own real estate or finance outside organizations.
